The 2026 International Erasmus Games in Porto brought together Erasmus students and ESN volunteers from across Europe for three days of sport, cultural exchange, and community spirit. As every year, the competition — spanning futsal, basketball, and volleyball — gave thousands of participants the chance to experience Erasmus life on the playing field too.
Among them were the volunteers and Erasmus students of ESN Roma ASE, who took part not just as supporters but as athletes themselves, competing from the very first whistle. They were the protagonists of one of the best editions in our section's history: the futsal team finished in first place, defeating other European sections and bringing home the title. Meanwhile, the national ESN Italy squad — to which our members also contributed — claimed the silver medal in both basketball and volleyball.
Three podiums, plenty of stories to tell, and the same ingredient that makes the IEG special every year: the willingness to put yourself out there, on and off the field.
